Photo Every Day

A project for my ARTS 475 class. Start date: January 26th, 2024.

Don't mind the random disjointed thoughts and the song titles before each photograph. Just look at the pretty pictures.

Friday, January 26th, 2024 -
The day after my meeting with my art professor, my friend and and I went to Cookout for dinner. I was worried I was out of money, and that I he would have to cover for me yet again. He's really nice, but I always feel bad. I had just enough for what I wanted, so everything worked out.
Song: "Burnout" by Green Day.

Saturday, January 27th, 2024 -
Hanging out late in this campus building. The windows are very smudgy. They make it difficult to take pictures through them.
Song: "White Sky" by Vampire Weekend.

Sunday, January 28th, 2024 -
My a cappella group had a song selection to decide what we're going to sing this semester. I picked the song "All That She Wants" by Ace of Base. I really like that song. I would've selected the song I was listening to on my iPod, but I think grunge is a little challenging to convert to a cappella.
Song: "Breed" by Nirvana.

Monday, January 29th, 2024 -
The basement of the theater building. My thinking place. Was struggling quite a bit today. I sat down there for a while, just thinking about things I'd prefer not to write down and listening to my iPod. I purchased a Twix bar from the vending machine. It was pretty good. GET A GRIP!
Song: "Kick" by FIDLAR.

Tuesday, January 30th, 2024 -
I purchased a bag of gummy worms and a cherry cola from the vending machines downstairs to snack on while I worked on my project. I couldn't eat the last gummy worm, so I just stared at it in my hand, took a picture, and then threw it out.
Song: "Coma City" by Green Day.

Wednesday, January 31st, 2024 -
I needed to work on lyrics with my guitarist. I can't write them myself, so why not make it someone else's problem. We got reasonably far on "Fraud" and "Splatter Me". I need to fix the vocal timings because this is gonna drive me crazy.
Song: "Can't Be Mine" by Bad Nerves.

Thursday, February 1st, 2024 -
My friends and I went out to eat after a cappella rehearsal tonight. When I got home, I still felt kinda hungry. I almost made instant ramen, but I didn't.
Song: "Somewhere Only We Know" by Keane.

Friday, February 2nd, 2024 -
WE WON A FUCKING COFFEEMAKER!
Song: "409 In Your Coffeemaker" by Green Day.

Saturday, February 3rd, 2024 -
Eating some Dominominoes. Can't believe you can get two medium one-topping pizzas and a side with a two liter bottle of soda for only $20!
Song: "Isla de Encanta" by Pixies.

Sunday, February 4th, 2024 -
After a fun shopping trip to two different Goodwills, my friend and I cut up some books and made a kick-ass collage. We call it "Horse Sports".
Song: "As It Was" by Harry Styles.

Monday, February 5th, 2024 -
The most Monday day of the week. This Monday, my friend dragged me. I had my super late class again which was tons of fun.
Song: "Saviors" by Green Day.

Tuesday, February 6th, 2024 -
Woke up sick this morning. My head was killing me, and my joints felt all still. My teeth hurt? Like I had been clenching my jaw the whole night. And for some reason, my ears also hurt. A few ibuprofens later and I felt well enough to get up start the day at noon. And, as you do when you're feeling sick, you need to eat right. So I did. :)
Song: "Harmony Hall" by Vampire Weekend.

Wednesday, February 7th, 2024 -
Still sick. My nose is all congested. My ears still hurt. My head feels heavy. I hate this. I really never get sick. Outside of my GI issues, I'm largely okay. But when I do get sick, oh God put me to sleep. I also need to do laundry. It's getting really bad over here. Lastly, hey check it out. There's my face. Kinda.
Song: "Bounce" by System of a Down.

Thursday , February 8th, 2024 -
Couldn't sleep tonight. Still sick, and it's four in the morning. Gut is killing me right now. Thank God there's nowhere I have to be tomorrow.
Song: "Over It" by The Frights.

Friday, February 9th, 2024 -
I'm feeling better today. Still congested, but not as bad as earlier this week. Anyway, not much really happened today other than I dropped my phone on the raised lip part on the floor of the shower. The screen cracked a little, and now parts of it don't register to touch. I can still use it for the most part, but if this isn't a sign to replace the phone I've had for 6 years I don't know what is.
Song: "Freedom Dive" by xi.

Saturday, February 10th, 2024 -
A Saturday that came and went. Saw an old friend today, that was pretty cool. Outside of that, I went to Panera, continued to be kind of sick, and watched more MLP.
Song: "Crutch" by The Frights.

Sunday, February 11th, 2024 -
Eating burgers and watching the Super Bowl. I went to a cappella rehearsal, only to discover it was canceled for tonight. I'm ready to get back to classes tomorrow. These past few days have sucked. I wish I could've been more productive, but I wasn't. At least I got all my work for classes done.
Song: "Sorrow" by Bad Religion.

Monday, February 12th, 2024 -
Getting real sick of this late class. The ugly, unbrushed mop of hair on my head looks ridiculous. Maybe it's finally time for a haircut. Maybe mom was right about this whole thing. Why a public speaking class has to last three goddamn hours is something I will never understand. My back aches from sitting on this stiff piano bench in this dark practice room.
Song: "Fancy Sauce" by Green Day.

Tuesday, February 13th, 2024 -
If I carried any cash on me, I think now's the time to put it in my mattress. I feel like putting my credit or debit card under my mattress doesn't really feel the same, probably because that's not the fucking point. Flog the moneylenders and flip the tables cuz I'm making an artwork that makes a statement on the world! I was actually having a good day until it was time for art class.

TICK TOCK TICK TOCK THAT'S ALL IT EVER DOES GOD WHY IS THIS THING SO GODDAMN LOUD AND WHO IS PLAYING A PIANO IN HERE?!
Song: "Eat Your Young" by Hozier.

Wednesday, February 14th, 2024 -
It's a WEDNESDAY. I got kinda caught up this week working on other stuff, but I'm getting back on track. Posts will return to normal on Friday.
Song: "Bad Advice" by Otherkin.

Thursday, February 15th, 2024 -
Please see above. I went to an artist talk by Robin Ha today, that was fun.
Song: "Devil's Prayer" by The Dionysus Effect.

Friday, February 16th, 2024 -
It's my favorite day of the week. Band practice day. Our songs are starting to come together. We were able to record a video us playing through a new song off the album, "Holly View." I think it sounds great so far. I'm so hyped to release this it's gonna be NICE. Also, tonight my friend invited me and a few more friends over for dinner tonight. We watched The Lion King 1½ and Kiki's Delivery Service. It was awesome.
Song: "The Rock Show" by blink-182.

Saturday, February 17th, 2024 -
The power briefly went out on campus tonight. Very exciting. All the lights on the bridge were out, so it made it look extra scary as we were walking back to the apartment.
Song: "Rūju no Dengon" by Yumi Matsutoya.

Sunday, February 18th, 2024 -
Today, my roommates and I took a trip to a few different Goodwills around the area. There's quite a few of them in a very short proximity to eachother. After checking out the selection of DVDs and CDs and other miscellaneous electronics, I walked away with a few movies, a couple PC games, and even Call of Duty 2: Big Red One for the GameCube. One of my roommates got a sealed Japanese Pokémon UNO card game. We all got Taco Bell for dinner tonight, which was scrumpsh.
Song: "Just A Little Too Much" by Ricky Nelson.

Monday, February 19th, 2024 -
I just consumed Fun Dip past 22:00. I also ate the stick, which is pure sugar. I have alerted my roommate that I am going to hit the fucking ceiling at 3 in the goddamn morning so that's gonna be fun. God I love Fun Dip. Also, the wrapper has "Fun Razz Mag" on it after I ripped it. Don't know what that means, just reporting it.
Song: "Cocaine Blues" by Johnny Cash.

Tuesday, February 20th, 2024 -
Another day, another day to forget to write a splash text.
Song: "Capricorn" by Vampire Weekend.

Wednesday, February 21st, 2024 -
I'm really not doing well with this assignment. I had a really motivating talk with one of my favorite professors. I'm trying to get back on track. I'm going to get back on track.
Song: "Ride" by the Vines.

Thursday, February 22nd, 2024 -
Choose your starter. Which type will you pick? Also, boy dinner.
Song: "We Belong" by Pat Benatar.

Friday, February 23nd, 2024 -
I hate needles. My phone's screen likes to freak out sometimes, and it really fucks with me. My eyes hurt from it, and I hope that I don't have a seizure myself from looking at it for too long. I couldn't make it to band practice today. Shit is fucked up.
Song: "Stuff Is Messed Up" by The Offspring.

Saturday, February 24nd, 2024 -
I'm still afraid of the dark. I shot a psychodrama-kinda video for my video art class. Surprisingly, I seem to have created something that I actually don't entirely hate. The video's public on my YouTube channel. What makes this interesting to me is that I'm the only character in it. I hate being on camera. I hate seeing myself in videos, and I don't really love getting my picture taken anymore. And don't even get me started on hearing my own voice recorded, oh God that is just like actually the WORST.
Song: "Afraid of the Dark" by The Frights.

Sunday, February 25nd, 2024 -
Went to the Goodwills again today. Bought some PlayStation 2 games. Sang. Ate pizza. My eyes hurt again from my stupid seizure-inducing phone screen. Best part of the day was watching yaoi with the boys on my little TV. And no, I'm not taking a fucking picture of that. Here's a night scene instead.

LAST THING FOR TONIGHT: My love of surf and doo-wop music is only growing. I think my future music is probably going to sound a lot like this. I'm kinda moving away from that grungy sound like on my song "Splatter Me" and more towards those beachy vibes like my songs "Happy Ass" and "Sandcastles" have. Pretty much, I'm thinking along the lines of fast, clean, reverb-soaked guitars, with energetic drums, and a driving bass. As for vocals, they should be echoey, but bright. I don't really know where I'm going with this yet, but I heard this song today at the Goodwill and it made me really happy.
Song: "Whispering Bells" by The Del-Vikings.

Monday, February 26nd, 2024 -
I'm working on a new series for my photo class. This series will be focusing on musicians playing live. I decided to portray a bassist and a lead vocalist as that's what I'm the most familiar with. I brought my small camera to the critique room to test some photo ideas I have. The big one right now was doing a sick epic bass hop. I didn't have my bass with me today, so I used a ruler instead. I think this one came out well. It gives a pretty clear idea of what I want the final image to look like, a jump holding my bass.
Song: "Blitzkrieg Bop" by the Ramones.

Tuesday, February 27th, 2024 -
Scrap it. I can't keep working on this.
Today I got some help on my direction for ARTS 474. And it was exactly what I needed. Basically, I'm abandoning the plans for the sign-mattress project. I don't really care about that idea. I don't make sculptures, I take pictures. And that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to return to my original idea, and make a zine. I don't know why I didn't run with that idea in the first place. But I'm still on track. I've been taking pictures every day, and now have splash text that I've been writing so I can include that if I want. While I'm still hesitant to include text, I'm starting to slowly warm up to the idea.
Song: "Why Don't You Get a Job" by The Offspring.

Wednesday, February 28th, 2024 -
My a cappella group performed in a small show tonight. We sang on the big stage in the auditorium. We didn't have our usual mic setup, so we used chorus mics. I thought we sounded pretty good. I love being backstage and seeing all the lights and switches and buttons. There's just so much cool shit back there.
Song: "cardigan." by Taylor Swift.

Thursday, February 29th, 2024 -
I forgot it was a leap year. I'm starting my first professional private contracting gig, which I'm really happy about. I also went to the career center on campus to look at my resume and make some adjustments to it, and also to look at job listings. I hope I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing. I feel like I'm a few years behind everyone else.

I'm writing this one-handed with a cinnamon roll in the other. The software I'm using to structure this project asked me for a title. It's weird. I've never really thought much of a title for this project outside of "Photo Every Day", but that's lame. I need something better.

Also, get it done!
Song: "Growing Up" by The Frights.

Friday, March 1st, 2024 -
A good day. It may be the calm before the storm, but still a good day.

It's my first day of Spring Break. I've got a week off, and I'm not going home. I got stuff. But I'm not gonna think about that until Monday. For now, I'm going to do what I have to do, and then just enjoy this weekend. Then things are allowed to get crazier again. All I'll say is, first, I'm getting started working on my first professional videographer gig which I'm really hyped about. And second, Motif1 is going into the studio after we get back! This LP is happening and I can't wait. What this means is I gotta practice. Not just bass, but also screaming. I wonder if I can go to the music hall and see if I can find an empty practice room...

I went to Walmart to buy stuff. I'm getting some food for the week, since campus is closed. My friend and I are going to McDonald's tonight it's gonna be epic.
Song: "WILLYPACK (feat. Larrrycroft & AVGOTDRIP)" by Softwilly, void & Lex Pain.

Saturday, March 2nd, 2024 -
A Schplatturday. My friend came over and helped me design a Commander deck for MTG. Then we went to Costco. Then we played MTG together and I got destroyed by a 20/20 or some shit. Idk what was happening. Later, my roommates and I played Cards Against Humanity with a Squishmallow.
Song: "I Need Never Get Old" by Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats.
