Thanksgiving 2023

Happy Thanksgiving. I'm currently sitting at my desk listening to Bad Religion's Christmas album while nibbling on a piece of cheesecake I stole from my roommate. I wish I could've gone home for the Thanksgiving Break, but I'm backed up pretty far with artwork I'm trying to get out the door, as well as this documentary I'm supposed to make for my film class. So it's just me in the apartment for the next few days, and it's pretty eerie. There's not a soul around. Which I guess makes sense, but still.

Anyway, I'm doing pretty good. I didn't really go anywhere today, so tomorrow will be the day I get my stuff in the art studio done. Winter Break is just about three weeks away, and I can't wait. It's this point in the semester when I get homesick. I'm usually pretty good about being away from home, I used to go to sleepaway camp for the entire summer when I was in high school. I don't know. I think it has something to do with the fact that, as much as I dislike winter, I really love the holiday season.

I don't know what it is exactly, but I really love that time of year. The build-up to Christmas, seeing everyone's decorations on their front yard, Christmas music... I guess it reminds me a lot of being a kid, and how special this time was back then. I mean, it still is special for sure, but I have a lot of great memories of back then. And before I know it, I'll be packing up some bags and loading them into the van and my dad and I will drive back together.

I had a video call with my family today. It was nice to see everyone. Mom's doing great.

The bagel place by my house reopened. I can't wait to go back there. Best bagels and tuna fish I've ever had. So much stuff from my past has been resurfacing recently: the green football made a comeback, the nature documentaries we used to watch in the car, and now the bagel place. It's a nice feeling. I'll have to document a lot of this stuff when I'm back. I want to make another trip to New York City over the break to see the Rockefeller Center tree. There's also an exhibit at the MET dad told me about that I want to see as well. I also want to get a slice of NYC pizza. How I've missed that...

On Saturday, my friend and I went to see the Pope-Leighey House by Frank Lloyd Wright. This was my first time visiting any of his houses in-person, so that was cool. We also went up to Mount Vernon to see our other friend who used to go to our school. We just walked around the place looking at all there was to be seen. Very pretty. Overall, solid Saturday 10/10.

I'm sorry I kinda fell off with updating this blog. I have no idea when my next post is going to be. The last few weeks have been pretty much the same as always, classes and work. Not really a whole lot to document. I'm putting together a Christmas CD and it's pretty much just the holiday albums by Bad Religion and Relient K. I also put this song by The Frights on it that I haven't heard before. It's called "Christmas Everyday" and it's pretty good. Anyways, I guess that it's for today.

I just really want to go home.

Showtime

I have a choir concert tomorrow. Also Green Day's new song, "Look Ma, No Brains!" has been on repeat in my head since it came out. I'm so hyped for their new album.
